Omaha Art – The Joslyn Art Museum
The Joslyn Art Museum is the top fine arts museum in the state of Nebraska and has been for art enthusiasts since its opening on November 29, 1931. The exterior of the building is Georgia Pink marble, which lends to the buildings magnificence. It was given to the city of Omaha by Sarah Joslyn in remembrance of her late husband George Joslyn. It was originally intended to be a concert hall surrounded by art galleries. Located in Omaha, it features the largest comprehensive permanent art collection in the state of Nebraska. Although it includes many fine art works from the past to the present day, its greatest art works are however from the last two centuries and feature many wonderful European and American art. The Joslyn also has a very distinguished exhibit of American West art work.
There are several special yearly exhibitions which add excitement to the permanent ehibits that are opn display. Monthly music performances are held in the Joslyn’s 1,000 seat concert hall. Art classes for all ages and educational events are often happening in the Joslyn’s educational technology gallery as well as the lecture hall. The Joslyn also has a fountain court, library, cafe, and gift shop.

Every Thursday evening during the summer the Joslyn hosts Jazz on the Green.
